MINNESOTA / EXCAVATION

The right start.
From the ground up.

Excavation, grading, leveling, soil spreading, and site preparation for the next stage of your property. We help turn uneven or disturbed ground into a more workable starting point.

WHAT WE CAN DO

Excavation,
with a clear plan.

Before a lawn, landscape, or outdoor surface can come together, the ground needs a clear plan. We discuss existing elevations, access, material needs, water movement, and the finish required for the next stage of work.

01 / EXCAVATION

Grading & surface shaping

Grading & surface shaping

Reshape an agreed area to support a more useful yard or prepare for the next project. Grading decisions depend on the property, surrounding elevations, and where water can appropriately go.

Project options

  • Reshaping uneven lawn areas
  • Surface grading around disturbed project areas
  • Preparing grades for landscaping or restoration

How we approach the work

We review site conditions and desired elevations, then define the area and material movements included in the estimate. The agreed scope may include cutting high spots, filling low areas, and shaping the surface. We take adjoining property and existing features into account. Complex drainage, engineered grades, and structural concerns require separate evaluation.

02 / EXCAVATION

Yard leveling & soil spreading

Yard leveling & soil spreading

Improve rough surface conditions or distribute soil where the project needs it. Leveling for a lawn means creating an appropriate surface for the site, rather than making every area perfectly flat.

Project options

  • Spreading topsoil for lawn preparation
  • Addressing selected surface low spots
  • Preparing disturbed ground for sod or seed by others unless included

How we approach the work

We assess the existing soil and intended finish, discuss suitable material, and estimate quantities. Soil is placed and spread to the agreed profile. Settlement, unsuitable underlying material, and access constraints are considered in the scope. Final lawn installation or other finishes can be included when specifically listed.

03 / EXCAVATION

Site preparation

Site preparation

Prepare a defined project area for its next use. This may support a landscape installation, lawn restoration, or planned concrete work, depending on the site and project requirements.

Project options

  • Surface preparation for landscape projects
  • Preparing areas for a separately defined concrete installation
  • Construction-related yard cleanup and ground restoration within the agreed scope

How we approach the work

We confirm the work boundaries, equipment access, utilities that require locating, and what the next installer needs. The estimate defines excavation or soil movement, material handling, and the finish condition. Excavation depth, compaction requirements, hauling, and disposal are included only where specified.

04 / EXCAVATION

Project coordination & restoration

Project coordination & restoration

Bring soil work and the visible finish together. A combined plan can help avoid leaving a completed construction area surrounded by rough or unfinished ground.

Project options

  • Grading followed by sod installation
  • Soil work around new patios or driveways
  • Coordinating excavation with mulch, beds, and edging

How we approach the work

We work backward from the intended finish to define preparation, soil placement, access, and the sequence of work. Where several services are included, the estimate explains the handoff between stages and what the completed area will look like. Work outside the agreed boundaries is reviewed before proceeding.

BUILT AROUND YOUR PROPERTY

Homes. Businesses.
Spaces that work.

Homeowners & residential

Discuss uneven yard areas, soil preparation for new sod, or restoring the ground around a home improvement project. We focus on the defined area and the result you want to achieve.

Commercial properties

Discuss landscape area preparation, surface restoration, and soil placement around managed or commercial properties. We review equipment access, nearby activity, material staging, and any site plans or specifications that govern the work.

HOW YOUR PROJECT COMES TOGETHER

Clarity at every step.

01 / THE CONVERSATION

Tell us what you need.

Share your city, photos, approximate dimensions, and the improvements you have in mind. We discuss your priorities and whether the project fits our scope.

02 / THE PLAN

Define the details.

We review site conditions and confirm the work, materials, access, timing, and exclusions in your estimate. Any required approvals or specialist input are addressed before work starts.

03 / THE WORK

Bring it together.

Once the scope is agreed, we coordinate the work sequence and site access. We discuss the finished result and any care or use instructions relevant to your project.

Tell us where water collects, whether there are buried utilities or irrigation, how equipment can enter, and what you want installed afterward. Retaining walls, engineered drainage, deep excavation, and structural work need separate scope and suitability review.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

A few helpful answers.

Can grading solve standing water?

It may help when surface elevations are the cause and a suitable drainage route exists. Standing water can also involve soil, groundwater, or other conditions. We evaluate the concern before recommending a scope and do not promise that grading alone will resolve every drainage problem.

Do I need to arrange utility locating?

Utility locating and the identification of private lines, irrigation, and other buried features must be coordinated before excavation. We discuss responsibilities during project planning.

Can you install sod after the excavation?

Yes. We can discuss a combined soil preparation and sod scope. Your estimate will specify the preparation, soil materials, finish, sod area, and any exclusions.
